Bike Sizing

To start racing at club level you do not need a race specific bike – there is plenty of time to plan the race bike of your dreams once you are hooked!

There are some small changes required to turn your normal BMX into a race machine though.

Brakes, you have to run a rear brake. We do not recommend the use of front brakes, but pegs, bike stands, bells and reflectors etc. must be removed.

There are many different bike sizes available and these sizes are generally matched to a rider by their age and height. As all people are created different please use this information as a guide only, although it should get you very close to a suitable bike size.

The different sizing of these bikes refers to the frame size e.g. length of each tube that makes up the frame, the handle bar highest and width, crank length, gearing and the size of the wheels. Each Manufacture has small differences is their specifications but mostly align with the increase in a child’s physical size.
